one of my favorite songs to sing.

that's the cool thing about being here in france, i guess.
on the spearman/weiss tour in 2009 we got to Recannati and we were sitting down at the bar to some nice beers and whiskey, but disappointing food...

on the radio comes up chuck berry, and some other really typical american standards from the rocknroll era. ryan and kelly had a laugh over that, and it reminded me of how i felt about those tunes when people first started to ask me for them.

country roads, johnny b good, you know the ones. back home, if you play them they would most likely produce groans, but only because they've just been so played. every one knows them, everyone's played them, sung them rocked them, and been desensitized to them.

i love that i have a fresh relationship wth these tunes. like dock in a different tonality(minor), or cotton eye joe with new lyrics and sub-arrangements. all they really need to hear to experience the song is the hook.

the rest, i develop my own relationship to convey.
